French packaging group Albea agrees 12-MWp solar off-take deal
Sep 19, 2024 5:38 CESTFinnish state-controlled utility Fortum Oyj (HEL:FORTUM) will supply local wind power to the Koskenkorva distillery in Southern Ostrobothnia, Finland of Nordic spirits and wine company Anora Group Oyj (HEL:ANORA).
The companies said today they have signed a wind power supply agreement that will replace up to half of the electricity used at the distillery. The renewable power will come from Fortum's 90-MW Kalax wind farm in Narpio, which was commissioned in 2021.

The partnership will continue through 2023–2025, according to the announcement.
Anora aims to reduce the fossil carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from its production operations to zero without compensations, said Miika Jokinen, business unit director, Industrial Products and Services, at the company. “This wind power agreement is a natural continuation of the previous investments in circular economy and bioenergy that reduce emissions at the Koskenkorva distillery,” added Jokinen.
The bioenergy plant has already cut the Koskenkorva facility’s emissions by around 60% since 2014. Anora also uses geothermal energy to meet 70% of the energy needs of its Gjellerasen plant in Norway.
