France allocates 29 MWp in latest call for solar in non-interconnected areas

France has awarded 29 MWp of capacity in a tender targeting solar projects in non-interconnected zones (ZNIs), with or without storage, it was announced last week.

A total of 33 photovoltaic (PV) proposals with integrated battery storage capacity were selected as part of the fifth such tender held by the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE). The awarded projects are located in French Guiana and Mayotte. Pricing details about the bids were not disclosed.

In a separate press release, French renewable power producer Voltalia SA confirmed that its 5-MW Parc Sable Blanc solar scheme is one of the winners in the competitive round. The PV plant will be coupled with a lithium-ion battery storage facility of 5 MW/9.3 MWh, which the French firm will install within the Toco storage complex in the commune of Mana.

The previous tranche of the tender awarded 47 projects with storage in Corsica and the overseas territories, for a total capacity of 57 MWp. The average tariff of the winning proposals came at EUR 98.6 (USD 118.3) per MWh.
