French telecoms company iliad Group on Tuesday unveiled power purchase agreements (PPAs) to procure the electricity generated by three solar farms with a combined capacity of 89.5 MW, located in its three markets, France, Poland and Italy.

The PPAs are with French utility group Engie SA (EPA:ENGI) and Norway’s Statkraft, the largest renewable power generator in Europe.

Under its second PPA with Engie, iliad will buy the electricity generated by a new 25.6-MW solar power farm located in Sainte-Gemme in the Charente-Maritime region. The duration of the agreement is 15 years, starting from April 1, 2025.

Iliad Italia has signed its inaugural PPA with Statkraft. Starting January 1, 2025, the 10-year agreement will see iliad Italia purchase electricity from a 27.9-MW solar farm in Latina, Latium, which will be operated by Sonnedix.

In Poland, Play has also signed its first PPA with Statkraft for the output of a 36-MW solar power farm in the town of Resko, which will be operated by Better Energy. The contract is for 10 years, starting on January 1, 2025.

“We are happy to be part of the sustainable change for Play through this tailor-made green baseload PPA,” commented Pieter Schipper, Statkraft’s Vice President Origination North-West Europe and US.

Including iliad’s first PPA announced in January 2023, the company has now backed almost 140 GWh of renewable power generation. In 2025, iliad will have 13% of its direct electricity consumption covered by renewable PPAs.
