Energiekontor commissions 12-MWp solar park in Germany
Nov 12, 2024 14:01 CESTApr 11, 2013 - Germany produced around 16.2 TWh of electricity through solar and wind power plants over the first three months of 2013, Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy and System Technology, or Fraunhofer ISE, said Monday.
The installed capacity of solar power at the end of March was 33.4 GW, up from 32.4 GW at the end of 2012. However, the solar plants in Germany generated around 3.3 TWh of electricity in the first three months, which is some 500 GWh less than in the corresponding period of 2012.
Wind power generated a total of 13 TWh for the period. The maximum energy production was in January.
The maximum electricity generated by both power sources was in March with 7 TWh, whereas the lowest rate of 3.9 TWh was recorded in February.
Conventional power sources delivered the rest of the electricity demand. Their production stood between 34.5 TWh and 36.3 TWh per month.
Germany was a net electricity exporter with export excess of 16 TWh over the first quarter of 2013.
