VINCI Concessions, part of French concessions and construction group Vinci SA (EPA:DG), announced today that the Toulon Hyeres airport in southeastern France has reached net zero Scope 1 and 2 emissions.

The company celebrated achieving the milestone on Friday concurrently with the inauguration of a rooftop solar power system that was deployed on top of a car-rental car park with 180 parking spaces. The solar array has the capacity to generate up to 690 MWh per year for use by the airport and any surplus production will be injected into the urban grid.

The installation of the solar power system was handled by SunMind, which is a VINCI Concessions subsidiary. The company said it plans to deploy a second solar array in 2026 on the roof of a car park with more than 700 parking spaces.

“Toulon Hyères airport is a perfect illustration of the decarbonisation policy rolled out by VINCI Concessions since 2016 in all its airports worldwide. We are proud that it has reached net zero emissions for its direct activities. All VINCI Concession’ teams are mobilised to achieve this goal in all the European Union airports and also at London Gatwick by 2030,” said Nicolas Notebaert, CEO of VINCI Concessions and Chairman of VINCI Airports.
