French CDC Infrastructure invests in 288-MW Butendiek wind farm in Germany

Dec 9, 2013 - CDC Infrastructure, an investment fund owned by French state bank Caisse des Depots et Consignations, said on Friday it had acquired a 7.5% stake in a 288-MW wind park in Butendiek, Germany, whose construction is due to begin early next year and to be completed in mid-2015.

No financial terms have been disclosed. The total amount of the 80-turbine project is some EUR 1.3 billion (USD 1.8bn).

The French investor has bought the interest from Luxembourg-based Marguerite fund, which divested a third of its 22.5% shareholding. The rest of the capital is held by two Danish pension funds, Siemens Financial Services and the project's developer WPD AG.

The deal is CDC Infrastructure's first investment in the offshore wind sector. The facility is to be constructed off the North Sea and will be able to provide green energy to 370,000 homes.
