Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTOct 14, 2013 - French green energy production company Quadran and Ideol, which specialises in the design and installation of floating platforms for offshore wind farms, said on Friday they had signed a partnership deal to develop 500 MW offshore wind parks in France by 2020.
The floating foundation solution of Ideol, based on the patent Damping Pool, is compatible with existing turbines and can be used at depths of up to 35 m (114.8 ft). Furthermore, it enables to cut the costs of offshore wind farms.
A real-size 2 MW prototype will be installed off the coasts of the Canary Islands in 2015.
Quadran currently manages a park of 136 farms in France and Overseas Departments and targets 330 MW of installed capacity by the end of 2013 and a revenue of EUR 70 million (USD 94.8m).
