The local joint venture of Oracle Power PLC (LON:ORCP) has recently hired Fugro Pakistan BV to conduct a surface-level survey at the site of the planned 400-MW green hydrogen project in Sindh, south-east Pakistan.

The subsidiary of Dutch Geo-data specialist Fugro NV (AMS:FUR) is immediately commencing work under the contract. The job involves the use of drones to gather vital mapping data about the newly-leased site.

The project itself calls for the construction of the green hydrogen production facility as well as 700 MW of solar and 500 MW of wind parks plus a battery storage plant of up to 450 MW. The initial output of the facility is estimated at 55,000 tonnes of hydrogen per year, with operations planned to begin in the final quarter of 2026.

Fugro’s topographic survey is due to be completed in the first quarter of 2023, ahead of the launch of a commercial and technical feasibility study.

As previously announced, Oracle Power has set up a JV to co-develop the project with Shaikh Ahmed Dalmook Al Maktoum of Dubai’s Kaheel Energy FZE. The latter is a 70% owner of the joint entity called Oracle Energy Ltd.
