J-Power signs solar VPPA for Tokyo Metro in Japan
Sep 18, 2024 15:26 CESTJan 4, 2012 - Japanese IT major Fujitsu (TYO:6702) said today it had installed a geothermal heat extraction system at its print board factory in the Japanese city of Nagano.
The system is to commence work this month. It will use heat extraction pipes embedded in the ground as a source of heat to power water heater equipment for air conditioners, which Fujitsu uses in its clean rooms and other facilities.
The company expects to lower its fuel consumption and offset some 120 tonnes of carbon dioxide emission through the use of the geothermal heat extraction unit. It may install similar facilities in other production locations, once it has verified the effectiveness of the technology, Fujitsu added.
The project is in line with the company's environmental protection programme, aimed at bolstering the use of renewables.
