Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTSpanish wind power-focused firm Gamesa (BME:GAM) said on Wednesday it will build a 20-MW solar power facility in southern Sri Lanka under a contract with Laugfs Power Limited.
This turnkey engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) order, which is Gamesa’s first in Sri Lanka concerning a solar project, will see the company design, install and commission a photovoltaic (PV) park in Hambantota province. Gamesa will use its own inverters as part of the development.
The company expects the solar farm to begin operation by October 2016.
As previously mentioned, Gamesa’s expansion into the solar sector aligns with its goal to explore opportunities in businesses that complement the wind industry. The company’s Indian solar power portfolio increased to 60 MW several weeks ago, when it received a 12-MW PV order for a project in Tamil Nadu.
