US energy storage solutions provider Torus announced today that it has been contracted to supply nearly 26 MWh of its systems to serve some of Gardner Group’s commercial real estate assets.

Under the deal, Torus will install its Torus Station technology that combines advanced battery and flywheel energy storage systems (BESS + FESS) and a proprietary software platform. Installation works are set to start in the fourth quarter of 2024, with completion anticipated by the first quarter of 2026.

The energy storage systems will be manufactured at Torus' newly-launched facility in South Salt Lake, Utah.

The project will take advantage of Torus' participation in Rocky Mountain Power's Wattsmart Battery programme, which supports grid resilience through the integration of energy storage resources into a virtual power plant (VPP) ecosystem, a press statement said Wednesday.

“Partnering with Torus allows us to optimize our energy management, reduce our carbon footprint, and provide enhanced value to our tenants,” Gardner Group’s CEO Christian Gardner said.
