Garrad Hassan develops wind power map of Lebanon

(ADPnews) - Feb 21, 2011 - UK clean energy consultancy GL Garrad Hassan last week said it has developed a wind power map of Lebanon, aiming to facilitate the country's emerging wind energy sector.

The map provides information on the available wind resources across Lebanon. It is part of the consultancy's global resource mapping range which includes maps of Great Britain, India, Turkey and France.

Garrad Hassan produced the map under the Country Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Demonstration Project for the Recovery of Lebanon (CEDRO), which is financed by the United Nations Development Programme and the Spanish government. The CEDRO was established in 2007 to support Lebanon's national power sector reform as part of the government's incentives for recovery and reconstruction.

Lebanon aims to fetch 12% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2020, according to official reports.
