GCL-Poly starts works on 5 MW PV system in San Diego

(ADPnews) - May 18, 2011 - Hong Kong-based GCL-Poly Energy Holdings (HKG:3800) has kicked off the construction works on a 5 MW photovoltaic (PV) installation in the San Diego Unified School District, California.

The company announced on Monday that the solar system is being developed by its subsidiary GCL Solar Energy Inc, which has partnered with local solar power developer Amsolar Corp.

According to plans, the project will comprise a total of 23,000 solar panels deployed across 20 sites including school rooftops and parking structures. After it is completed in October 2011, the installation will provide around 64% energy offset of the sites and 11% offset of the overall district's power needs.
