Georgia to break ground on 210-MW HPP this week

Apr 18, 2012 - Georgia will start the construction of its 210-MW Neskra hydropower plant (HPP) this week, the Trend News Agency said on Tuesday, citing Manana Manjgaladze, spokeswoman for the president of Gerogia.

The Neskra HPP will cost some USD 630 million (EUR 480.1m). Construction will create some 1,200 jobs, with completion expected by 2017, Manjgaladze said in a briefing yesterday.

Manjgaladze also said that the construction of more than 15 HPPs across Georgia is in progress, while ten more HPPs are to enter the construction phase by the end of the year, creating 13,000 jobs.
