World set to install 593 GW of new solar in 2024 - Ember
Sep 19, 2024 13:28 CESTOct 25, 2013 - German biogas association Fachverband Biogas said on Wednesday it welcomed the Federal Supreme Court's decision to expand the definition for biogas plant as this will facilitate higher incentives for more plant operators.
The court has decided not to limit the term biogas plant to just each cogeneration unit but to extend it to other directly connected facilities for gas generation.
The industry has long waited for the decision, which will bring legal security to investors and operators of biogas plants, the association said. Both the remuneration system under the renewable energy act (EEG) and the direct marketing regulations will benefit on the new definition.
The Biogas Association expects the court's decision to not affect the independence of the isolated combined heat and power (CHP) installations.
