Weekly renewables M&A round-up (Nov 4 - 8)
Nov 08, 2024 17:12 CESTA German investor has launched the construction of the 66 MW Grebak wind farm in Bosnia - a project worth an estimated 130 million marka ($80.5 million/66.5 million euro), the energy ministry of Bosnia's Serb Republic entity said.
This will be the first wind farm in the Serb Republic and one of the largest in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the entity's energy ministry said in a press release on Friday when the construction works commenced.
The wind farm will be built in Bosnia's Nevesinje municipality within 24 months, will be connected to the grid by the end of 2022 and will produce some 180 MWh per year, which will significantly increase the share of electricity produced from renewable sources in the Serb Republic, the ministry said.
The investor plans to install ten wind turbines of 6.6 MW each at the location, with a single turbine producing annually enough electricity to meet the needs of 4,500 households, which is almost all of Nevesinje, Miralem Campara, the executive director of Vetroelektrana Grebak, the company implementing the project, said.
According to data from the Serb Republic's registry of business entities, Nevesinje-based Vjetroelektrana Grebak was founded by Admir Rahimic, Mostar-based firm Impro Impex, and German company Erich Preissler Windparkverwaltung GmbH.
Nevesinje is located some 270 kilometres south-east of the Serb Republic's main city, Banja Luka.
In April 2019, the Serb Republic signed a 50-year concession contract with Vjetroelektrana Grebak to build and operate the wind farm. The concessionaire shall pay a concession fee of 0.0055 marka per kilowatt hour.
The Serb Republic is one of two autonomous entities that make up Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other one is the Federation.
