German Juwi installs Solar Fuel Saver in Kenya

Sep 18, 2013 - German renewable projects developer Juwi AG said yesterday it had installed its Solar-Fuel-Saver, a self-developed intelligent controller directly coupled to diesel generator mini-grids, in Kenya.

The Solar-Fuel-Saver, installed on the Mfangano island, aims at reducing costs for diesel operated grids. The intelligent system integrates solar systems into existing and new diesel generator grids and does not need batteries.

Local companies Dreampower Ltd and KPLC Ltd also took part in the project. Now, in view of the solar park's layout, it can take up to 25% of the average load of 40 KW during midday. If the load is falling, the output of the plant will be automatically adjusted and thus will avoid the diesel generator operating under minimal load conditions.

Juwi sees big potential for Solar Fuel Saver plants in Africa.
