German energy solutions company GP JOULE GmbH will build green hydrogen infrastructure to decarbonise the logistics operations of Nobilia in North Rhine-Westphalia and develop an energy concept, including green power production, for the fitted kitchen manufacturer.

As part of an agreed partnership, GP JOULE will build a hydrogen filling station in Verl and supply locally produced green hydrogen to power trucks transporting Nobilia's products, the energy solutions company said on Friday.

With the help of the green hydrogen infrastructure and emission-free trucks, Nobilia will come closer to its goal of significantly reducing its carbon footprint. The kitchen manufacturer currently has a fleet of about 200 trucks that transport freight of about 3.15 million cubic metres annually and account for 40% of its carbon emissions.

In addition to Nobilia's trucks, other companies will be also able to refuel their trucks and buses at the planned filling station.

Apart from the decarbonisation of the logistic operations through green hydrogen, Nobilia is seeking to green also other areas of its energy consumption. For this purpose, GP JOULE will draw up a broader concept that covers all aspects of energy supply, including heat, production of electricity from solar and wind power and its storage.
