German Nordex pours EUR 25m into Rostock plant expansion - report

Jul 21, 2014 - German wind-turbine maker Nordex SE (ETR:NDX1) is investing EUR 25 million (USD 34m) in the expansion of its production plant in Rostock, dpa news agency reported on Monday.

The expansion of the rotor blade centre will begin on Monday in a ceremony attended by Christian Pegel, energy minister of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, and Rostock Mayor Roland Methling.

Following the overhaul, Nordex will have a 10,500 sq m (113,000 sq ft) end machining hall. The company said the expansion is necessitated by the ever larger rotor blades required by clients.

Nordex, which produced 300 rotor blades in Rostock last year, hopes to raise the number to 840 by 2016. The Hamburg-based company plans to invest about EUR 50 million in rotor blade technology by 2016.
