German glass and plastic packaging firm Gerresheimer AG (ETR:GXI) has contracted some 35 GWh of wind power annually for its sites across the country from renewables developer PNE AG (ETR:PNE3).

The clean electricity will be sourced from a local wind farm owned by PNE under a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) starting next year, the energy producer said in a statement published today.

“The power purchase agreement with PNE AG is another important building block in expanding green power as a share of the supply of energy to our German locations,” Gerresheimer’s CEO Dietmar Siemssen said, adding that the company is targeting a 50% cut in carbon dioxide emissions by 2030.

The PPA was inked under “attractive conditions.” Further details were not provided.
