German Repower to provide turbines for France's first civic wind farm project

Oct 14, 2013 - German Repower Systems, part of Indian wind turbine maker Suzlon Energy (BOM:532667), said today it had won a contract from French Begawatts to supply turbines for the first civic wind farm in France.

The 8.2 MW farm, which will be located in Beganne, northwestern France, will feature four 2.05-MW turbines and will cover the electricity requirements of some 8,000 households.

The project, developed and financed mainly by the population's cooperative administration and groups of local investors, will avoid the emission of 5,300 tonnes of CO2 annually.

The farm will become operational in the spring of 2014. Its maintenance will be carried out by Repower's centre in Morbihan department.
