German solar power retail price drops twice since 2006

Aug 8, 2011 - According to the German solar association BSW-Solar, the price per kilowatt of solar power has halved nowadays to EUR 2.400 (USD 3.40) as compared to EUR 5.000 in 2006.

Due to the fast lowering costs of photovoltaic systems, new solar plants, that will not need financial support, would be able to run at profit in Germany from 2017, BSW-Solar said.

The association expects that by 2020 sales of solar modules will be at least three times higher than they are nowadays.
