Germany has initiated an auction to support the development of 583.25 MW of innovative renewable energy projects, the Federal Network Agency has said.

The deadline for submissions is September 1, 2024. Since the day is Sunday, bids can be sent by September 2, the agency said.

The maximum value for the auction is EUR 0.0918 (USD 0.10) per kWh after it was increased by 25% in March 2023 to reflect higher project costs and spark interest in the competition among developers.

The innovation tender is open to wind, solar, energy storage, biomass, geothermal energy and hydropower projects that combine two technologies to support the grid and integration of renewable energy and secure a more even supply of electricity from such power plants. The tender typically takes place in two rounds each year with deadlines on May 1 and September 1.

In the latest round, Germany selected 512 MW of projects, all of which for solar-plus-storage capacity. The tendered capacity was 583 MW.
