With it, Germany aims to support green value creation in Morocco through the development of a green hydrogen economy, the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development said last week.
The amount is part of a broader financial commitment of around EUR 243 million that will be extended for the development of the cooperation between the two countries.
Morocco, which is seeking to position itself as a hydrogen producer and exporter to Europe, completed its first pilot green hydrogen project in September. The project includes a 20-kW electrolyser powered by solar panels and envisages also the production of green ammonia. The project was developed by Morocco’s Research Institute for Solar Energy and New Energies (IRESEN).
