Germany’s 9-mo bioethanol production grows 21.3% Y/Y – BDBe

Dec 20, 2012 - The production of bioethanol in Germany climbed by 21.3%, or 78,430 tonnes, to around 446,481 tonnes in the first nine months of 2012, German Bioethanol Industry Association (BDBe) announced on Wednesday.

Feed grain accounted for a total of 270,569 tonnes of the generated production, which marks a decrease of 4.7% from the prior-year period. On the other hand, the volume of bioethanol produced from industrial sugar beet surged by 109.3% to 175,912 tonnes.

The significant rise of bioethanol production from industrial sugar beet was caused by the surging grain prices and the good sugar beet harvest in the autumn of 2011, BDBe president Dietrich Klein said.
