Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTGerman firm Autarsys GmbH is to deliver an energy storage system (ESS) for a a refugee camp in Iraq, to work together a 300-kWp solar plant there.
The ESS, which will be equipped with intelligent energy management software, will ensure more stable power supply for the Mam Rashan refugee camp in northern Iraq’s Dohuk district near the borders with Syria and Turkey.
Autarsys explained that the storage facility will be delivered in a user-friendly “plug-and-play” container that is easy and safe to operate, while the software will allow the delivery of power to be made by priority, depending on the camp residents’ most critical needs.
The German firm expects the ESS to be operational by this spring. Its development will be the first phase of a bigger project, allowing delivery of power to the camp during daytime. At present, the camp relies on the local public grid and has consistent supply only during the night.
The scheme is financed by the German state of Baden-Wuerttemberg and its Foundation for Development and Cooperation (SEZ). Additional financing may lead to the expansion of the ESS in the future, Autarsys said.
