Germany’s KfW to lend 172 mln euro for wind power, water projects in Bosnia

SARAJEVO (Bosnia and Herzegovina), September 26 (SeeNews) – Bosnia and Germany signed two financial cooperation deals that open the way for German bank KfW to lend 172 million euro ($232 million) for renewable energy, water supply and waste water treatment projects in the Balkan country, the German embassy in Sarajevo said.

The agreements, signed on Wednesday by German Ambassador Ulrike Maria Knotz and Bosnian finance minister Nikola Spiric, were a prerequisite for KfW to provide loans for certain projects, the embassy in said in a press release.

The first agreement envisages funds for hydropower plant Vrilo (30 million euro), wind park projects in the Serb Republic (50 million euro) and water supply and waste water treatment projects (18 million euro, plus a grant of 1.8 million euro), the finance ministry of Bosnia and Herzegovina said in a separate statement on Wednesday.

The second agreement will cover loans for hydropower project Janjici (50 million euro), as well as water supply and waste water treatment projects (24 million euro), the ministry added.

The Serb Republic and the Muslim-Croat Federation comprises Bosnia and Herzegovina.
