Germany's sentiment in renewables sector improves in Mar

Apr 9, 2014 - The business climate index in Germany''s green energy sector rose slightly in March to 83 points from the record low 77.4 points the previous month, German renewable energy institute IWR said today.

Despite the increase, the index remains under the 100-points threshold separating optimism from pessimism. The index measures the mood in the renewable energy industry regarding the current situation in the sector and expectations for the next six months.

Regulatory uncertainty and the market conditions in Germany continued to impact negatively the business climate in the renewable energy sector in March, IWR said. However, the industry's outlook for both the current environment and the prospects for the coming six months improved in March as compared with February.

Almost 63% of the polled companies believe that the existing policy in Germany is slowing down the energy transition. Around a quarter of the respondents think that the conventional power industry is responsible for the slow expansion of renewables.
