German renewables developer Wpd AG has filed a request for a preliminary environmental impact assessment (EIA) as part of a permitting process that is to lead to the construction of a 126-MW wind farm in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The company's request, filed by its Sarajevo-based unit Vjetroelektrane Dah Planine doo, is now being released for public consultation, the environment ministry of Bosnia and Herzegovina's Federation said on Friday.

Vjetroelektrane Dah Planine plans to build the wind farm, named Marino Brdo, in the municipality of Bosansko Grahovo in the western part of Bosnia. According to the request, 21 units of the Siemens Gamesa SG 170-6.0 MW turbines would be used in this project. The production output is estimated at around 320 GWh per year.

In July 2022, Wpd’s Sarajevo unit was awarded concessions to build Marino Brdo and another 138-MW wind project in Bosnia.
