CIP completes construction of 300-MW Taiwanese offshore wind farm
Sep 05, 2024 9:51 CESTJapanese renewables company GF Corporation has joined as a key strategic partner in a 180-MW offshore wind project coordinated by Netherlands-based IX Renewables that could be the first floating scheme to be built in Taiwan.
The Rui-Li Phase 1 floating offshore wind project is designed to accommodate 12 turbines of 15 MW each. The station is planned to be located off the coast of Hsinchu County, according to a press statement.
Rui-Li 1 is set to compete in the forthcoming floating offshore wind tender for capacities in the Taiwan Strait, anticipated in late 2024 or early 2025. The auction will identify demonstration projects that will set the stage for the next wave of commercial-scale offshore wind tenders, all of which are expected to be floating. Construction works on the winning scheme will start in 2027/2029, with grid-connection anticipated before the end of 2030.
The financial details of the investment made by GF Corp were kept under wraps.
GF Corp is a renewables firm focused on solar and wind power systems that seeks to build a portfolio of 1 GW of installed capacity by 2033. The company is planning floating offshore projects in Japan.
“We believe that our expertise and resources will significantly contribute to the success of Taiwan’s first floating offshore wind project. The Rui-Li 1 project not only provides us with invaluable insights for our future projects in Japan but also underscores our commitment to benefiting local communities and fostering sustainable development,” said GF Corp’s CEO Koji Fujisaki.
