Nacap to build hydrogen pipeline for AGA’s Aussie green ammonia project
Sep 19, 2024 16:03 CESTThe global hydrogen electrolyser projects pipeline has reached 1,190 GW after expanding by 66 GW over the six months since April 2023, according to data by Aurora Energy Research.
This growth rate of 6% marks a slowdown from the 18% observed in the six months preceding April when the previous edition of Aurora's database was published.

There is, however, acceleration in the projects that have progressed beyond the early planning stage. They have grown by 48 GW, or 32%, to 182 GW since April after expanding 28% in the previous six months. The projects’ advancement is being driven by subsidies in the US and Europe.
According to the latest edition of Aurora’s electrolyser database, released this week, the pipeline is becoming more extensive in global reach. Additions since April were led by South America with 25 GW from the Amigos del Verano project in Chile. Next comes Oceania with 20 GW of project announcements. Europe remains the main destination but its share of the pipeline has declined to 46% from 56% in April 2023.
The power market analytics firm now expects that global electrolyser manufacturing capacity will reach 59 GW per year in 2025. Manufacturers will be able to produce 506 GW of electrolysers by 2030, well above the current project pipeline's requirement of 315 GW, Aurora said.
