Vistra agrees USD 3.25bn buyout of zero-carbon energy unit
Sep 19, 2024 11:01 CESTGlobal shipments of photovoltaic (PV) trackers grew by 28% in 2023, reaching 92 GW DC, spurred by a strong utility-scale solar performance in most regions around the world, according to a Wood Mackenzie report.
The top 10 suppliers represented 90% of the market, with Nextracker Inc (NASDAQ:NXT) and Array Technologies (NASDAQ:ARRY) keeping their leading positions for the ninth consecutive year, the analyst firm said last week. GameChange Solar achieved 55% growth and moved into third place. These three US-based manufacturers together accounted for more than 50% of global tracker shipments and 90% of the US market.
In the US, the largest PV tracker market, shipments rose by 10% year-over-year to over 37 GW DC, aided by incentives from the Inflation Reduction Act.
Spain was the largest European market, making up more than 50% of the continent’s demand. PV Hardware (PVH) led shipments in Europe and ranked second in Spain behind Solar Steel. The global top 10 featured two other Spanish manufacturers, Soltec and Axial.
The PV tracker market in China declined to 4.3 GW DC in 2023, despite the more than 140 GW DC of utility-scale solar installations in the country last year, as demand was much higher for fixed-tilt products due to low installation costs. Nevertheless, TrinaTracker and Arctech still managed to rise into the top six by growing their regional presence in the Middle East, central Asia and Latin America.
