German renewables developer Goldbeck Solar today unveiled the acquisition of the North American photovoltaic (PV) - engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) business of energy solutions company GP JOULE GmbH, expanding its position in the Americas.

The transaction, whose financial details remained undisclosed, encompasses two separate entities -- GP Joule PV Canada Corp and GP Joule PV USA Inc.

Founded in 2011, GP Joule's EPC business in North America specialises in the supply of PV and energy storage power plants with single axis tracking and fixed tilt racking systems, servicing utilities and commercial and industrial customers. The company has built more than 200 MWp of projects in Canada and the US over the past ten years.

Goldbeck Solar develops photovoltaic systems on a commercial, industrial and large scale. The acquisition of GP JOULE’s operations is aligned with its push to design and build solar plants in North America after investing in a portfolio of projects in Canada at the beginning of 2022.

Goldbeck Solar is already present in the Americas with operations in Chile and Mexico.

After the sale, GP JOULE will focus more strongly on its business in Germany and Europe.
