World set to install 593 GW of new solar in 2024 - Ember
Sep 19, 2024 13:28 CEST(ADPnews) - Jun 28, 2011 - German renewable energy project developer GP Joule GmbH announced today it is building a photovoltaic (PV) park in Brandenburg whose capacity of 70 MW will make it the largest in Germany.
The solar power plant will occupy an area of 150 hectares (370 acres) and produce some 70 million kWh of electricity annually. This is enough to power 17,500 households and prevent the emission of 52 tonnes of CO2.
The farm will consist of 300,000 solar modules and 2,555 inverters.
The planning and development work for the project was done by Berlin-based firm Unlimited Energy GmbH. GP Joule is in charge of the commercial aspect of the project, including financing and technical and commercial management.
Wholesale bank HSH Nordbank has provided a loan of EUR 140 million (USD 200m) for the project.
