Lithuanian renewables developer Green Genius said today it plans to build a 100-MW solar photovoltaic (PV) park in Latvia as part of its plans to further grow its operations in the Baltic country.

To be installed in the Jekabpils municipality in the central-east parts of Latvia, the project will require some EUR 90 million (USD 96.5m) in investments. The capacity will cover more than 151 hectares (373 acres) and will create one of the largest PV parks in the Latvian market.

Green Genius expects to secure all needed permits and become ready to kick off construction by June.

The solar farm’s output will be enough to cover the annual electricity consumption of around 41,000 homes, the developer estimates.

Green Genius entered the Latvian market back in 2019. "Latvia has very good potential with attractive terms and reasonable regulation for solar PV development,” said Simonas Sileikis, head of the company’s solar business.
