A unit of Myanmar's Gold Energy Company Ltd (GE) has connected to the grid the 20-MW Taungdaw Gwin solar park in the Mandalay region in central Myanmar.

The photovoltaic (PV) plant was built under the build-own-operate (BOO) model on an 80.9-hectare (199.9 acres) site southeast of Kyaukse, Myit Thar Township, Green Power Energy (GPE) announced today.

Taungdaw Gwin features 45,980 solar panels and a 1500-V string inverter solution supplied by Chinese solar inverter maker Sungrow Power Supply Co Ltd (SHE:300274).

The manufacturer said the PV facility should be able to produce 45 GWh of electricity annually while its output will be used to alleviate power shortages as well as meet the demand of local families and facilities.

Taungdaw Gwin is GE group's second large-scale solar park in the country. In December 2021, Clean Power Energy Ltd, another GE unit, completed the 30-MW Thapyay Wa solar plant in Mandalay district.
