German solar developer and EPC services provider Greencells has connected a 65-MWp solar farm to the grid in Hungary, bringing its installed capacity in the Central European country to 345 MWp.

The solar park is located in the Szuegy municipality in northern Hungary and benefits from a 25-year feed-in tariff, Greencells said on Wednesday.

With its 121,000 modules, the power plant is expected to generate more than 80,000 MWh annually which is enough to supply some 30,000 households.

The project was financed by the local subsidiary of Italian lender Unicredit SpA (BIT:UCG). Greencells noted that it is planning to expand the partnership with UniCredit BankHungary and secure funding for more projects in Hungary totalling 132 MWp as well as schemes of 1,437 MWp in Italy and 145 MWp in Romania.

“The commissioning of the solar park in Szuegy is another important step in the expansion of our project development business, in which numerous projects are now entering the construction and operation phase," said Greencells' chief executive Andreas Hoffmann.

Apart from the plant in Szuegy, Greencells is building more solar farms with a combined capacity of 201 MWp across Hungary.
