ABP presents plan to turn Port of Barrow into renewables hub
Sep 18, 2024 14:41 CESTUK waste-based biodiesel supplier Greenergy International Ltd has submitted a planning application for a renewable fuels project that will mark the company’s entry into the Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) market.
Greenergy is looking to build two plants within one complex in Teesside. The first one will rely on existing technologies to convert waste oils into SAF, thus helping reduce aviation emissions by up to 80%. In turn, the second facility will convert end-of-life tyres into recovered carbon black and low-carbon road and marine transport fuels.
If approved, both new plants will be built next to the company’s existing Teesside biofuel production facility.
Construction work could start in 2025 so that the complex is finalised in 2027.
