Renewables company Greenvolt Next has completed the installation of a 2-MW self-consumption solar system (UPAC) in Portugal for hydrogen chemistry specialist HyChem SA.

The subsidiary of energy firm Greenvolt - Energias Renovaveis SA (ELI:GVOLT) said on Tuesday that the solar system consists of a total of 4,600 photovoltaic (PV) panels, installed for a microalgae production project at the Algatec Eco Business Park in the municipality of Povoa de Santa Iria.

Greenvolt Next noted that the solar array can produce 3,372 MWh of clean energy annually. The output will allow Hychem to reduce the energy consumption of the project, reinforce its environmental commitment and be beneficial to all the other projects the company has under development within the Eco Business Park, including the production of chlorate and hydrogen.
