Spanish renewables company Grenergy Renovables SA (BME:GRE) on Friday announced that its board would seek shareholder approval to separate the roles of the chairman of the board of directors and CEO, both currently occupied by David Ruiz de Andres.

Ruiz de Andres, founder and the largest shareholder of the solar and wind developer, would stay in the executive chairman seat and oversee corporate areas and strategic decisions.

The board proposed that Pablo Otin Pintado, the current chief operating officer, be appointed as the new executive board member, in which case he would become Grenergy’s new CEO. This will make Otin Pintado responsible for the company's operational divisions, which include the development, construction and operations of renewable energy assets, Grenergy said.

The proposals will be put forward at the next general meeting of shareholders.
