Southern Europe-focused independent power producer (IPP) BNZ announced today it is joining forces with solar contractor GRS to build a 49-MWp solar photovoltaic (PV) plant in Portugal.

Located in Vila Nova de Famalicao municipality, in the North Region of Portugal, this is BNZ's first solar park in the Iberian country.

Once up and running, the new solar facility should be able to produce enough clean electricity to meet the demand of roughly 14,000 homes.

GRS will be responsible for building the solar plant, together with Portuguese firm Triple Watt. BNZ is also collaborating with Anderson Tax & Legal on this project, it said.

BNZ plans to install 600 MWp in Portugal by 2026 and aims for 1.7 GW in all of Southern Europe.
