Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTRenewables generated 71.48% of Guatemala’s electricity in March, increasing their share from 68% recorded the month before, according to the latest figures presented by the National Electric Energy Commission (CNEE).
While biomass-based power plants are still the biggest producers of electricity, renewable or otherwise, the extra push for a cleaner mix last month came from hydro, solar and geothermal systems.
Overview of Guatemala’s power mix in March is summarised in the table below:
Source: | Share in March: | Share in February: |
Hydro | 31.24% | 27.05% |
Bagasse biomass | 32.80% | 33.55% |
Wind | 3.28% | 3.50% |
Solar | 1.89% | 1.76% |
Geothermal | 2.18% | 2.08% |
Coal | 20.71% | 20.11% |
Including the interconnection with Mexico, all systems together generated 1,082.6 GW.
