The share of renewables in Guatemala’s power generation mix dipped to 33.53% in August from 38.33% recorded in July, according to a monthly report by the country's National Electric Energy Commission (CNEE).

Power production from renewables declined across the board, while coal-based power reached a share of 55.95% in August, up from 47.36% in July.

The share of hydropower fell to 28.12% in August from 31.04% in the previous month. Wind power, which last month scored a 3.16% share, decreased to 1.71%. Solar and geothermal power generation slowed down to 1.62% and 2.03% share, respectively, from 1.86% and 2.18% registered in July.

All systems in Guatemala, including the interconnection with Mexico, generated 1,080.8 GWh.
