IEA urges proactive measures to integrate renewables
Sep 18, 2024 11:17 CESTMar 30, 2012 - Gundersen Health System said today it had recently completed a 4.95-MW wind farm in the state of Minnesota as part of its plan to become 100% energy independent by 2014.
The two-turbine facility produces enough power a year for 1,400 households, Gundersen calculates. The project brings the company 7% closer to its energy independence target.
The company is building another two-turbine wind project in Wisconsin together with Organic Valley, a cooperative of organic farmers. The facility is to be up and ready to run this summer. That project is also in line with Gundersen's Envision programme, aimed at showing that the healthcare sector can significantly cut both its energy costs and environmental footprint.
