German electrolyser manufacturer H-TEC Systems is getting ready to rebrand to Quest One as it initiates automated series production of proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolysis stacks at its new ‘Gigahub’ in Hamburg.

According to an announcement from earlier this week, the company’s official rebranding will coincide with the opening of the new site on September 30, 2024. The new name reflects the electrolyser maker’s ambition to contribute to avoiding 1% of global greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 through the use of its own products.

The company, which is a subsidiary of MAN Energy Solutions and part of the Volkswagen Group, focuses on the proton exchange membrane (PEM) technology. At full capacity, the new factory will be able to manufacture more than 5 GW of PEM electrolysers a year, which will then be assembled at another site in Augsburg.

The Gigahub will employ around 200 people in the areas of production, development, testing and service. On the other hand, the Augsburg facility has over 350 employees.
