German hydrogen solutions provider H2 Core AG (ETR:M5S) said on Thursday that it has supplied a leading telecommunications provider in South Africa and a major service provider in Kenya with the first test plants for self-sufficient hydrogen-based energy generation for radio masts.

The unnamed companies are replacing their diesel generators with H2 Core’s Outdoor HydroCab PowerCore devices. The complete systems of the German company consist of electrolysers and fuel cells as well as water tank modules and dryers.

The solutions have already been delivered to the companies and have been in operation for several months.

H2 Core added that it is in talks with other companies from the telecommunications sector to implement its systems.

The German company has also entered into a collaboration with Synergy Partners, a consulting firm that advises firms on securing the energy supply for critical infrastructures. The move is expected to unlock new growth opportunities for H2 Core, opening up new customer potential.
