Eurowind, Wind Estate set up EUR-400m wind JV in Denmark
Sep 18, 2024 11:01 CESTH2 Energy Europe has obtained the building permit for its 1-GW green hydrogen project in the Danish seaport town of Esbjerg, it announced on Monday.
According to its webpage, the Njordkraft Hydrogen project will source power from existing and future offshore wind farms to produce about 90,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year. As previously reported, the output of the plant will be used for the decarbonisation of heavy industry and road transportation, and possibly for the production of green e-fuels like methanol and ammonia.

The project secured an environmental permit in January 2024.
H2 Energy Europe said in a social media post that receiving the building permit is a significant milestone in bringing the company closer to realising its clean energy system vision, but noted that there still remain certain central hydrogen infrastructure challenges. It pointed at the importance of the decision-making timing for hydrogen pipeline infrastructure and its alignment with wind tender deadlines in Denmark.
Energinet and COWI are currently undertaking the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) study of the pipeline.
