Haffner Energy decides to spin off SAF business
Sep 13, 2024 16:01 CESTFrench steel tubes manufacturer Vallourec SA (EPA:VK) and local hydrogen producer H2V have agreed to combine their technical expertise, market knowledge and development capabilities in future green hydrogen storage projects.
The two companies have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) under which they will explore the potential integration of Vallourec’s storage solution into the green hydrogen production project developed by H2V at the port of Marseille Fos in France.

Vallourec entered the hydrogen storage market with the introduction of Delphy, an underground system of tube strings capable of storing up to 100 tonnes of compressed gaseous hydrogen for use in industrial applications and heavy mobility.
“Being able to stockpile hydrogen with Delphy will enable us to implement a more flexible supply system,” Alexis Martinez, managing director of H2V, said in a statement released today.
H2V, a subsidiary of the SAMFI-Invest group, is working in partnership with the port of Marseille Fos on a 600-MW project for renewable hydrogen in a push to decarbonise the activities of the industrial-port area of Fos.
The facility will be built in two stages over an area of 36 hectares. It will have six units of 100 MW each, targeting volumes of 84,000 tonnes per year of renewable hydrogen produced by water electrolysis. The commissioning of the first phase is scheduled for 2028 and the second for 2030.
