Hareon Solar, Swiss ILB Helios to build 6.3 GW of solar parks

Aug 1, 2014 - Chinese photovoltaic (PV) equipment maker Hareon Solar Technology Co Ltd (SHA:600401) said today it had clinched a deal to build 6,271 MWp of solar parks together with Swiss-based solar project developer ILB Helios.

The two companies will install the PV capacity in Europe, the Middle East and Africa between 2014 and 2017. Turkey is the top destination for the partners with 3,375 MWp of planned projects there. Financing details on the schemes were not provided.

This year alone, Hareon and ILB Helios will construct about 254 MWp of solar parks, including 29 MW in the UK and 225 MWp in Turkey.

Moving forward, the partners will build 2,170 MW of solar farms in 2015. About 1,250 MWp of that capacity will be installed in Turkey and 160 MWp will be added in Jordan. An additional 100 MWp of plants will be constructed in Macedonia, Iran and Iraq and 110 MWp in Kazakhstan. The next year, 2016, will mark the construction of more than 2,800 MWp of plants, while a little over 1,000 MWp of facilities will be built in 2017.

Hareon and ILB Helios have so far partnered in 150 MWp of solar projects mostly in Bulgaria and Romania. Last week, Hareon Solar said it will invest some CNY 6 billion (USD 971m/EUR 726m) in 600 MWp of solar rooftop power projects in China’s Hebei province.
