World set to install 593 GW of new solar in 2024 - Ember
Sep 19, 2024 13:28 CESTHBS New Energies has hooked to the grid a 11.6-MW photovoltaic (PV) park as part of Anglian Water's solar programme.
The Grafham Water Solar Scheme close to Perry, Huntingdonshire, is the biggest in the water utility's solar portfolio. It supports Anglian Water’s efforts to become carbon neutral by 2030.
The installation will produce 11 GWh of power a year, covering 26% of the electricity needed by Grafham Water Treatment Works and avoiding 3,500 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. The green electricity will help power essential water treatment operations through a private wire connection.
In 2018, HBS agreed to deliver 30 MWp of solar for Anglian Water. In addition to the latest project, the developer has completed six solar power plants in the programme.
Green Investment Group (GIG), part of Australia’s Macquarie Group Ltd (ASX:MQG), structured the power purchase agreement (PPA) for the Grafham Water Solar Scheme. It is funding the solar programme as a whole.
